Bringing the Benefits of Education to the Community

Applied Scholastics licenses close to 250 tutoring and community mentoring programs throughout the United States and in many other countries. Literally, hundreds of tutors work daily with children to help them overcome the barriers to learning and thereby open the road to successful and satisfying adulthood.

Two of these programs are especially deserving of note, for while still closely tied to the communities in which they began, they have also established networks of centers across the globe.

H.E.L.P. (Hollywood Education and Literacy Project)
“This is not just another ‘do good’ project. It works. L. Ron Hubbard's methods can uncover the barriers to study and learning and clean up miseducation that precipitates unemployment, drugs, violence and crime.”
Isaac Hayes
Award Winning composer and musician

“I want to let you know how thankful I am that the Applied Scholastics Literacy Program came along for me when it did. My ability to read was bad—about second grade level. I was not able to use the letters to sound out the words.

“I was on skid row for 6-7 years, for 2 years with my little baby. We and the baby’s mother were on the street, just living.

“I could do everything else in life — drugs, drinking. Now I can do the things I’m supposed to be doing. I have my own apartment with my daughter, we are not on skid row. She is now 4 years old and is in the top of her pre-school class. We help each other learn!”
