ABLE’s mission is to rid the world of its most devastating
social ills—drugs, crime, illiteracy and immorality—
through the social betterment methods and principles of author
and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard.
The 21st Century has been ushered in
with fantastic technological progress and some of the worst
single, human-generated disasters the  world
has ever seen. Whether the issue is the use of technology such
as satellites and the Internet for near-instantaneous worldwide
communication; or the resulting pervasive distribution of pornography;
the ever shrinking nature of the globe and closer relations
among peoples of the world; or genocide, racism, and terrorism
on a new scale because of this shrinking globe—the 21st
Century is fraught with possibilities for both good and evil.
And it is undeniably a time when we must reaffirm and recreate
the basic values essential to a humane civilization and move
forward to build better societies.
In both the prosperous West and the developing world, crime,
drugs, illiteracy and immorality tear away at the foundations
of our cultures and destroy the futures of our children. Societies
degraded by such ills cannot instill tolerance and understanding
in their youth and cannot become the building blocks to a better
world. The immediate cost in human casualties is enormous. And,
without effective tools for changing these conditions and the
application of such tools, the future for our children is grim.
Fortunately, these tools are available and they are being applied.
Decades ago, author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard warned of
these growing dangers to our societies and that the technologies
of science had outstripped the civilizing leaven of the humanities.
Never an abstract social critic, however, Mr. Hubbard set about
to develop solutions to these challenges. His success is strikingly
evident in the social programs which the Association for Better
Living and Education International (ABLE) promotes and guides
into troubled areas of our communities across the planet.
ABLE’s mission is to rid the world of these devastating
social ills—drugs, crime, illiteracy and immorality. It
does this by supporting and spreading at a grass-roots level,
the secular programs in these areas which utilize the technologies
developed by Mr. Hubbard. Thus today, we have Applied Scholastics
education and literacy programs which offer students of all
ages the ability to read, understand and apply any subject.
There is the Narconon drug rehabilitation and prevention program
that gives even hard-core addicts and abusers the opportunity
to reclaim their lives. The Criminon criminal reform program,
found in more than a thousand prisons in many nations, eradicates
both crime and its causes through the rehabilitation of tens
of thousands of previously incorrigible criminals. And then
there is what is arguably the most far-reaching secular moral
education initiative on Earth which utilizes The Way to Happiness,
the first non-religious common-sense guide to better living.
This site describes ABLE and the organizations and activities
which it sponsors and supports to achieve life-changing results
and better conditions for individuals, communities, and the
nations of this planet. We hope that in the following pages
you will gain a clearer understanding of who we are and exactly
how we are doing this.
Mr. Hubbard once said, “I like to help others and count

of the shadows which darken his days.”
